Join The Rt Hon Liam Byrne MP whose book The Inequality of Wealth: Why It Matters and How to Fix It explains why wealth inequality has grown so fast in recent years; warns how it threatens our society, economy and politics; shows where economics has got it wrong and lays out a path back to common sense. 

He will be joined by George Freeman MP who, together with Liam, used to run the cross-party APPG on inclusive growth. The APPG led the debate on rising inequality and finding a new model of inclusive growth that better benefits the majority. 

Vicky Pryce, leading economist and Chair of Fellows at Radix Big Tent will be with them during this interactive discussion. 

The Rt Hon Liam Byrne MP

The Rt Hon Liam Byrne MP chairs the House of Commons Business and Trade Select Committee and the Global Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. He served in the Cabinet in 10 Downing Street and Her Majesty’s Treasury. An Honorary Professor of Social Science at the University of Birmingham, Liam was the 2024-2025 Visiting Parliamentary Fellow at St Antony’s College, Oxford. He was a Fulbright scholar at the Harvard Business School and Gwilym Gibbon Research Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford. He has represented Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North since 2004. Liam’s latest book, The Inequality of Wealth. Why it matters and how to fix it, was published last year.

George Freeman MP

Founder of Big Tent, George Freeman MP was elected to Parliament in 2010 after a 15yr career in technology venture capital.  George has held a number of Ministerial roles over the last 14 years: as the UK’s first Minister for Life Sciences, first Minister for Decarbonisation & Digitalisation of Transport and Minister of State for Science & Technology. Re-elected for a 5th time in 2024 he was appointed by the Labour Government as UK Trade Envoy to Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei & the Philippines, and elected Deputy Chair of the Science & Technology Select Committee. 


As founder of MindThe Gap (2003) & PositivePolitics! (2005) Chair of the Conservative Policy Forum & Prime Minister’s Policy Board (2016-17) he has been a longstanding advocate of bolder devolution & Whitehall reform to drive the innovation economy, opportunity society & tackle the grievances driving collapsing trust in mainstream politics.

Vicky Pryce

Vicky is the Chair of the Fellows at Radix Big Tent and a leading economist whose career includes being Director General for Economics at the Department for BIS, Joint Head of the UK Government Economic Service and Chief Economist and Partner at KPMG. She is currently Chief Economic Adviser at the Centre for Economics and Business Research. She is also Chair of the Economic Advisory Council for the British Chambers of Commerce and a visiting Professor at KCL and BCU. She is co-founder of GoodCorporation, a company set up to advise on Corporate Social Responsibility.
