One of UK’s leading economic voices, Vicky Pryce, is to succeed Michael Holland as chair of the independent systems-change think-tank, Radix Big Tent.

A regular on television, radio and podcasts, Vicky is Chief Economic Adviser at the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR and Chair of the Economic Advisory Board of the British Chambers of Commerce).  She is also a Visiting Professor at King's College London.

She was previously Joint Head of the UK Government Economic Service, Director General for Economics at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting.

She is a former Partner and Chief Economist at the accounting and consulting firm KPMG and has held senior economic positions across the banking and the oil sectors.  She is co-founder of GoodCorporation, a company set up to advise on corporate social responsibility.

Her latest book, Mismanaged Decline, What Politicians won’t tell you about the Economy, jointly written with Prof Andy Ross, was published to coincide with the recent Budget and was the subject of one of Radix’s monthly webinars which can be heard here.

Vicky takes over as the first female chair of Radix Big as the cross-party think-tank and registered charity sharpens its focus on reform of the investment and housing systems, while at the same time seeking to devise ways to strengthen the UK’s democracy.  She will also continue in her role as Chair of Radix’s fellows, who ensure the think-tank’s academic rigour.  Other fellows include Prof Sir John Kay, Baroness Wheatcroft, Prof Tim Bale and former Times editor, Simon Jenkins.

Radix Big Tent has grown in size and influence over the past five years under the guidance of out-going chair Michael Holland.  Nine of the fifteen recommendations made by its Housing Commission have now been implemented, while its New Capital Consensus programme for investment system reform has attracted significant media interest around a number of reports, been addressed by Pensions Minister, Torsten Bell MP, provided briefings for Parliamentary debates and submissions for several select committee inquiries.

RBT is extremely grateful for Michael Holland's continuing support, who is to remain as a Trustee and Board member.  He says:

“Radix Big Tent has become the think-tank that concentrates on influencing legislators and policy. Vicky and her skills are perfectly positioned to enhance and grow this influence”

Radix Big Tent’s Chief Executive, Ben Rich adds:

“Vicky is a big beast in public policymaking.  She is one of the sharpest economic thinkers in the country and also has a unique ability to translate that thinking into easily understandable and implementable policies.  I am extremely excited that she has agreed to become our chair helping us both to develop new ideas and enhance our cut through to government.”
